As the dangerous situation continues to develop in Mexico and affect the security of travelers, IMG has important updates regarding our Patriot Travel Series.
The U.S. Department of State has issued several travel advisories for Mexico, with many of those being level 3 and 4 across various Mexican states. In some areas, the Department of State has issued a shelter-in-place advisory. Travelers planning a trip to Mexico are strongly encouraged to visit the Department of State’s website to view these warnings and stay up to date on any new developments in Mexico.
IMG continues to issue new international travel medical insurance plans to travelers with Mexico as their destination country, and IMG's Patriot Travel Series remains a viable coverage option. We have thoroughly reviewed the policy wordings, and the company will continue to cover eligible claims for unforeseen illness or injury unrelated to security issues or hostilities.
IMG insureds are strongly encouraged to review their policy wordings and the terms and conditions around the participation in acts of terrorism, violence, or civil unrest. Participation in acts of terrorism, violence, or civil unrest is excluded from medical coverage, as defined under the applicable policy terms and conditions. Please also review the terms and conditions around the Political Evacuation and Repatriation benefit prior to any travel to Mexico.
As always, all claims for existing IMG customers will be reviewed and adjudicated according to the terms and conditions of their policy wording. This notice is provided for general informational purposes only and does not supersede in any way the Certificate of Insurance and governing policy documents (together the “Insurance Contract”). The Insurance Contract is the only source of the actual benefits provided. Additional information regarding how benefits may apply to existing customers can be found at www.imglobal.com.

Additionally, IMG has important updates regarding our iTravelInsured travel protection plans.
IMG’s travel protection plans, including but not limited to iTravelInsured Choice, Travel Lite, Travel SE, and Travel LX plans, may provide benefits that can be triggered by a violent event as is occurring in Mexico. Coverage can vary by policy or State, so you should review your plan wording for possible benefits under Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Missed Connection, Trip Delay or Non-Medical Evacuation as these coverages may provide protection for losses in certain circumstances. Since this event is no longer unforeseen, policies issued on or after February 22, 2026 will not cover this event. Insurance benefits contained within the iTravelInsured plans described above are underwritten by either SiriusPoint America Insurance Company or United States Fire Insurance Company – please refer to your plan wording. C&F and Crum & Forster are registered trademarks of United States Fire Insurance Company.
